The Lateral Partner Questionnaire
Law firms typically require partner candidates (and sometimes senior counsel-level candidates) to complete a lateral partner questionnaire (LPQ) at some point in the process. Whether this takes place early on or later in the process depends on the specific firm. The LPQ is more detailed than your practice development plan and, in addition to providing key financial information about your practice, seeks to identify any conflicts that might exist between your portable business and the target firm’s existing clients.
Remember to obtain and print a list of all clients and matters that you worked on at your law firm before you leave that firm.
Below you can find a document that includes questions to guide your creation of an LPQ.
